The Effects of Imago psychotherapy on Self-concept of Nursing Students

Abstract
|
|
|
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of imago psychotherapy on Self-concept of Nursing students.
Method: The period of this research was from September 1, 2001 to December 1, 2001.
The subjects were 10 sophomore nursing students in T college located in Taegu City. The research design was a one -group pretest- posttest design and the theoretical framework was psychodynamic theory. Collected data were analyzed by paired t-test with SPSS program.
Results: The results of this research were as follows:
There was significant difference in self-concept score in problem solving, interpersonal relationship ability and total self-concept between before and after treatment.
Conclusion :I would like to make following suggestions with the results of this study.
The number of the session of Imago psychotherapy should be at least 20 and then the effect of the therapy can be properly verified.
With repeated studies, we explore the effects of treatment and should be done follow up test for the maintenance of effect.
We need to develop various Imago psychotherapy program to improve mental health and self-concept of nursing students.
